Mistakes are always made

When starting off with makeup, obviously you aren’t going to be an expert, that’s why you practice and practice until you have achieved your desired goal. With practice, comes making mistakes and guess what? That happened to me! Nobody is perfect at doing what they do but they try their best and that’s all that really matters.

My mistakes

When I first began experimenting with makeup, it was such an adventure. I began when I was 15 years old and had no idea what the heck I was doing. I was very insecure about my under eye circles so I took a bit of my mom’s concealer, and she is lighter than I am so when I applied it underneath my eyes I literally looked like a raccoon…

And I went to school with that on my face.

A few weeks passed and I started to experiment with my eyebrows. I already had natural and perfect shaped brows that I liked but I decided to fill them in (your girl filled them way too dark!). At the end of the day I looked like I had blocks on my forehead. No joke.

Realization of makeup

“Makeup is a way for a woman to look and feel like herself. Only prettier and more confident”- Bobbi Brown. This quote inspires me to realize that makeup is something that is used to make you feel more confident as a person. Makeup is how you express yourself and you should let that define who you are.

Makeup is by no means a necessity, some girls feel insecure just like I did and still do so they turn to makeup as their helper. Makeup can really transform a woman's face but that doesn’t mean that the same person isn’t underneath the beauty mask. Women find pleasure in using makeup and that isn’t a bad thing at all...it just helps them to be more themselves.

Mistakes are made to be learned from

“Some things cannot be taught; they must be experienced. You never learn the most valuable lessons in life until you go through your own journey.”― Roy T. Bennett. Whether your working with makeup, cooking, teaching, or doing basically anything you love, mistakes are going to be made and you should expect that. Learn from your mistakes and continue on with life.

What to do in order to avoid mistakes

-Give full attention to what you are doing, always focus on your task

-Avoid any distractions, if you have to be isolated then let it be so :)

-Take breaks and keep track of what you are doing, make sure that whatever it is you are doing is being done cautiously.

Beauty conducted

There have been many surveys conducted on the topic of women and makeup, whether women look better with or without the “beauty mask”. Many men found women, mostly celebrities, attractive. Apparently one of the gentlemen made a comment about one of the celebrities looking better without makeup.

As one could assume, these celebrities “look better” with makeup on the face, and the ones that wore no makeup were rated very low. There has been a trend of magazines using celebrities with “natural beauty”.

Final advice

I'm going to be honest and just say that working with makeup is really hard. There are many techniques that can be used in order help improve your work. As of right now, I am no expert at all. But little by little, day by day, I learn something new and I incorporate it into my everyday makeup routine.

All in all, learning is part of life and if you don’t learn anything, especially your mistakes, then you can’t expect to improve in this life.
